AHLSTROM CORPORATION ANNOUNCES EUR 11 MILLION REBUILD AT ITS TURIN, ITALY PLANT

The production line, currently dedicated to producing specialty paper products, will be totally reconfigured in order to increase the breadth of product offering available. In addition to the existing specialty paper products, the line will be capable of supporting the fast growing nonwovens market with products designed specifically for the engine filtration market as well as for medical, wipes and general industrial applications.

In relation to the investment Jukka Moisio, President of the FiberComposites division said, "at Ahlstrom, we constantly look for ways to provide our global customers with increased capacity to meet their changing needs. This investment is further proof of this commitment by expanding our offering to different markets which are showing healthy global growth. This investment will allow us to be flexible in our output and innovative in our new product developments across a number of diverse markets".

The investment will begin immediately and commercial output from the rebuilt production line is expected in mid 2004. Normal production will continue throughout the process.
