Ahlstrom to acquire FiberMark's North American absorbent materials business

Ahlstrom Corporation, a leader in high performance fiber-based solutions, announced today that it has acquired the absorbent and blotting materials business from FiberMark in North America.
This transaction continues to grow Ahlstrom's position in specialty filtration market segments. The acquired business, with net sales of approximately EUR 3 million, will be integrated into the existing product offering that Ahlstrom currently supplies from its Mt. Holly Springs, PA, USA site. This product portfolio is a perfect match with the high purity production capabilities of this site as well as its tradition of customized and converted products.

Ahlstrom will make every effort to make the business transition from FiberMark as smooth as possible for existing customers. They will be contacted individually to discuss the specifics of this transfer.

Customers can take confidence in the transition process as Ahlstrom has had a good track record of integrating businesses from FiberMark, this transaction being the fourth between the two companies in the past 4 years.

"This acquisition fits well with Ahlstrom's specialty filtration business." commented Scott Murdock VP of Filtration for North America, "We know the market and have the structure to service it, we have the right production capabilities and we are now well positioned to be a major supplier to this market. This purchase strengthens Ahlstrom's position and increases our product offering in the specialty filtration market."
